When temporarily installing W/98 [or any other older OS] DON'T choose the smaller disc option. They wouldn't even think about booting each others HDs.You had mentioned setting all your drives as Master Slave. When you suggest swapping the drives, do you mean physically swapping the IDE connectors on the drives inside the PC case? And, I'm inclined to agree with Pete's assessment but let's run through a few things before sticking a fork in it. Its possible the XP copy wasn't burned properly and isn't bootable...Could test on a different machine. Then you are locked there and can go no further.
