I don't even get a cpu fan running. The floppy LED would flash about 8 or 9 times, then all the LEDs would go out and the charging LED would light. You might be best off giving Dell a call. The Dell guy had had no luck with it whatsoever. Check This Out

When I go online, they suggest that my memory DIMM might be spoilt. Do you think it's the motherboard??? I did lots of experiments and other crazy things(Completely dis assembled my laptop Del inspiron 6000 till microprocessor and assembled it) which did not work. If no sound then your integrated sound card has failed, you will have to install anew one in the PCI Slot, otherwise forget about the war ... unless you are compentent in circuit level repair its gonna have to go into the shop for repair. Sure enough, this was the fault, I suspect the sensor had increased in resistivity and was no longer functioning. I suspect that the battery will no longer hold a large enough charge to facilitate start-up on the battery.
