Very disappointing as it seems like other software providers don't seem to be ready for 10 yet Microsoft have pushed ahead. If I plug a device in, then unplug it, sound comes back for a few minutes, then goes back to the headphone jack. and my head phones still arent working! Dell Audio Software I bought a TERABYTE USB Sound Card, 7.1 Channel, USB to Speaker & Mic Audio Adapter thinking it should help but it doesn't work on my laptop but works on my I also haev same problem, and only way seems to be alternating setting headphones and speakers as eh default.
If it can be fixed, it will likely require an electronics technician to repair it.

I do have microsoft HD audio device... I think reinstalled my drivers with slightly newer ones... Its a newer generation Dell xps8900 if that helps.
